I’ve heard this name on several occasions, and each time I just wonder why?  How did this come about?  At what point did someone just get completely stumped on what to name their kid, and then settle on an insect that keeps you awake at night?

I once had a dog named Cricket. She was small, black, and jumped like a cricket. It probably wouldn’t be wise to name a child for the same reasons.

Oh…. is everyone here American and not understanding of the beautiful pun in the article?
Cricket is also a popular sport, in which one must aim a hard, red ball at wickets, also known as “stumps”

Nope, must have been out of it. I’s not that great of a pun. You’ll get over it.
