I just saw a picture of this girl….she was neither a tree or a Native American tribe.

*shrug* still not a bad name, linguistically. Not to mention the many people named after naturalistic plants and animals etc. that we never bat an eyelid at.
“Rose” “Jasmine” “Opal” “pearl” “Holly” “Savannah” “Hazel” etc.
All weird names when you think about it, but perfectly normal in reality, and while “sekoya” might not be all that popular, it’s certainly still a pretty nice name.

The reason it’s so terrible is because they didn’t even spell sequoia right in the first place.
