Lili

This name is pronounced “lee-lee.” ┬áIt sounds like something you would name a pet chicken, not a human baby.

Lili is the short form of Elis(z)abeth. Other common short forms are eg. Lisa, Elli, Lissi, Elisa. IMHO it’s a sweet female name though a bit dingy because of “Lili Marleen”

I do know. In fact – I lived in Europe for a long time. And I didn’t see many American names there either. And when I did, I saw the kid being made fun of. Hmmmm…maybe you guys ARE just like us!

Me too. It’s a classic and it’s been everywhere for at least the past century. Maybe we should be borrowing from older cultures, if American culture is churning out shit like Bryson & whatnot. Whoever teases a girl named Lili is a dumbass! It can be pronounced Lily too – as in the famous WWII song “Lili Marlene” sung by Marlene Dietrich.

Wait – so on the Bedivere post you are telling me that no one remembers a show from the 1980s, but now you’re justifying your position on this name with a song from the 1940s? Can’t have it both ways!
