As bad as this name is, it will really be more convenient for her when she’s older.  She won’t have to change her name when she becomes a pole jockey.

“Gentlemen…put your hands together for the lovely Sapphire, comin’ to the main stage…”

Ahh, no. “Sapphire” brings to mind a black woman who used to bake the most incredible cookies and cupcakes for all the kids in the neighborhood when I was a child. Her children were both in the military and she missed “little ones” around. She was everyone’s unofficial grandmother. In her 50’s with an almost permanent smile and a great singing voice, though she sang mostly Gospel songs.

Sapphire is an “old fashioned” woman’s name in the black community, like Pearl, Ruby or Jasmine.

Maybe she’ll be lesbian, and name a chick named Ruby.
