Here we go again.  Is it pronounced Lidge?  Lie-Gee?  Lee-hee?  Lee-hay?  Lie-hee?  Litch?  Is the “j” silent possibly, so his name his “Lie?”   Is there some sort of chart or legend to assist me?  Can someone fucking help me out here?

I hope that the above scenario happens to Lije every single time a teacher, nurse, potential employer or anyone else tries to call out his name.  Maybe after a certain number of times, he will get mad enough to kick the shit out of his parents for such ridiculousness.

Is your friend in Belgium half as dumb as you are? If so, I’m not buying it.

It’s a dutch name, hence being used in Belgium. “ij” is an actual letter over there, the Dutch have 27 letters in their alphabet. It makes a harsh “a” sound, making the name pronounced Lay. Which you may assume would ensure ridicule as being of sexual content or to lay down, but in their language, that’s not what it means.

Well, since this is a kid in America, it does ensure ridicule as being of sexual content.

I’m the kind of person who would constantly pronounce his name Lee-juh and Li-hay. I’m not even sorry.
