Dawnalia

Wow.  Check out this name amalgam!  They started out just fine with Dawn, but then some dark force overcame them and made them keep going by inexplicably throwing “alia” onto the end of a perfectly good name.  Now it sounds like she was named by the Beverly Hillbillies.

I hope they don’t waste their toil by calling her Dawn all the time.  Stick to Dawnalia for every occasion, Mom & Dad.  Really rub it in and remind her how much she wants to run away.  It’s the only chance she has to be inspired to make something of herself.

Wow…we found ONE name that is okay by you, Dawn. Must be your mom’s name.

No. In fact, I thought it was your Mom’s name. That’s what she whispered in my ear.

Damn liar.

Like Lupercalia and Saturnalia, Dawnalia is an ancient Roman festival. Ancient Roman children who had been given horrendous names by their foolhardy parents would celebrate Dawnalia by tying up those parents and offering them as sacrifices to the god Jupiter.
